Teaching at the University of Graz
The University of Graz teaches its students to become independent and interdisciplinary thinking, critical graduates with high technical, social and intercultural skills. Good teaching encourages students to acquire a thoughtful and sovereign approach to science. And good science is always as good as its teachers. The university’s Mission Statement emphasises that research-based and interdisciplinary teaching are especially important.
Good teaching should always be regarded from different angles: It unfolds in social and institutional areas of practice which are characterised by the interplay of high technical, social and ethical standards required by teachers who enrich teaching with their intercultural and international experience. In view of international competition, good teaching means promoting students’ learning processes so that the highest scientific standards are achieved and conveyed according to didactically adequate methods. In order to fulfil these requirements, the University of Graz aims at providing and continually improving the frame conditions for teaching.
