Research facilities and programmes

The University of Graz regards itself as a centre of research in natural sciences, sociology and social and economic sciences which, in harmony with the other educational institutions, especially with the other three universities in Graz, guarantees an appropriate placement in the region.

Basic research and applied research at the University of Graz are subject to the demands of society, generating a large range of subjects and methodology. The university encourages high-quality research. In core areas of scientific disciplines, research disciplines are formed, thus consolidating research activities in the international research area - above all in the European Research Area. We involve our students in research in the context of teaching based on research. Knowledge and research results generated by academic research are thus made actively accessible to society.
