Service for researchers and teachers
With over 30,000 students and 3,800 employees, the University of Graz forms a kind of city in the city. Its entire usable floor space including a green campus in the Geidorf district amounts to some 186,000 m2 with approx. 6,700 rooms. Most of the buildings are owned by the federal Bundes-Immobilien-Gesellschaft (BIG) and are rented by the university. Different departments of the University of Graz make sure that everything runs smoothly and modern infrastructure is provided. Window surface amounting to a total of 33,000 m2 ensures that students and members of staff have clear views.
Everyday work for university staff members and students is supported by a number of sub-units of the university, which supply the main basis for smooth procedures. The Economic Department is responsible for parking, telephony, office material and the printing press, for example. The Facility Management Department looks after the technical installations and the lawns and is responsible for central fire protection.
