Councils for employees

The employees’ councils (BRAUP) for the non-academic and academic staff members (BRWISS) represent the economic, social, health and cultural interests of the relevant groups. The employees’ councils take care that all applicable acts, regulations, decrees, collective and employment agreements are abided by and implemented for the benefit of their members. Both councils are negotiating partners of the rectorate on employment agreements, which manage internal details and guarantee the employees’ rights of co-determination. They help and give advice on labour-law related questions or problems and spread information on news and developments. The University Law 2002 includes also special regulations for the councils in the University Board. The employee committee consists of both councils and is responsible for aspects that focus on both groups of employees.

The Working Group on Equal Opportunities (Arbeitskreis für Gleichbehandlungsfragen) works against sexual discrimination and against discrimination concerning ethnic origin, religion or world view, age or sexual orientation by executive bodies of the university and gives advice and support to members and executive bodies of the university concerning these matters.
